You can easily add toner to your laser printer without purchasing a new toner cartridge. The process is very simple and inexpensive. In this blog we will show you how you can do it! Continue reading to find out!
Printer Compatibility is Very Important
Initially, you have to buy the type of toner that is compatible with the printer and the cartridge that you are using. Since, the toner powders vary depending on the size of the grains, chemical property and weight. This is the reason only the compatible ones will work with your printer and cartridge.
There are various types of toners available in the market. However, they do not vary based on each type of printer models rather on the features. If the seller does not promise compatibility, it is better to avoid buying that toner.
Before you Replace Your Toner
- Refilling the toner can be a messy job and therefore you need to take some precautionary steps first.
- Place paper towels or newspapers on the surface to protect it from spills and stains.
- Put on a pair of rubber gloves to protect your hands from catching the powder.
- Use a burn tool to melt a hole in the plastic.
- Carefully wash and dry your hands once it is done to avoid staining other objects.
Find if there is a Hole in the Holding Tank
Your cartridge has a featureless wide compartment where the toner is needed to be refilled. Locate the holding tank and verify if it has an existing hole in it. This is where your laser printer refill process, that you have bought anywhere from Vancouver, begins.
Some of them come with a fill hole stopped with a plastic plug that can be easily removed. Others arrive with refill a kit that is used to burn a hole in the cartridge before refilling it with the new toner. Use a burn tool and create a hole in the tank that is big enough to fit the nozzle of the toner bottle into it. Make sure you do it carefully otherwise you can end up damaging other parts inside the tank if the stab is too deep.
Insert the Toner bottle on to the Funnel
Once the hole is sorted out, insert the funnel cap into the hole at a slight angle and start tapping the sides of the bottle carefully ensuring all the powder is dispersing into the tank. Continue the process until the whole bottle is empty.
What to do After Emptying the Bottle?
Once you are done with the laser printer refilling process, reseal the hole. If you already had a hole, put the plastic plug into the hole. However, if you had to create a hole, use an aluminum tape, provided along with refill kit, to reseal the hole.
Take the filled cartridge and gently shake it from side to side to ensure even distribution of the toner powder. After that, reinstall the cartridge back to your laser printer. Some of the printer does not work unless and until a smart chip is installed after refilling. Most of the toner refill kits come with one of these chips that you can use.
