Issues from Multi-Feeding Through the Automatic Document Feeder

If you put a large pile of papers into the automatic document feeder (ADF), it will pull more than one documents at a time. This process is called multi-feeding. Most of the ADF has items that separate the paper using a separation pad. This pad wears out after getting a few uses and will need to be replaced. You should open up the ADF cover and use a flashlight to light up the area, during regular check-up. If you find that the pad is worn out, have it replaced. Replacing it will have your ADF working efficiently again. While carrying out this fax machine repair issue you should also have the ADF roller cleaned or replaced. In some models, you get the option to flip the pad over. Just by doing this is enough to increase the longevity of the pad by double its lifetime.

The Roller is Not Picking up Papers Properly

When you find that your originals are not pulling in the papers when you insert them into the ADF, use WD-40 to clean the roller inside. To do that, take a quality cotton cloth that will not tear and saturate it with WD-40 solution. Clean the roller carefully and well and take the dry part. Make sure all the cleaner is wiped out of the roller. You will notice that the cloth has taken out all the dirt and black from the ink, from the roller. Now the roller will adhere to the paper better. If it is still not picking up the papers properly replace the roller with a newer one.

Fax Copy Produces Lines While Using the Copy Features

Another fax machine repair issue that you may face from your Vancouver residence is that sometimes the faxes you send or transmit have lines or streaks on them. This is often caused due to something being present on the slit glass of the fax machine scanner. To discover it, make a copy on your fax machine. Is it producing lines? If yes, print a journal. If the journal print copy produces no line then you can be sure that the problem is the slit glass. In that case, you will need to clean the slit glass. Lift up the ADF cover and light the inside using a flashlight. Look for a smaller “one inch” by “eleven inch” glass. Inspect it for any stains or foreign object stuck to it. If found, remove the stain by scrapping it with your finger nails at first then use an alcohol swab to remove the rest.
